I'm working on a strange email issue today. One of my clients is getting a high number of bounced messages at his domain, all being returned to non-existent users at his domain. It looks like this has been going on for several weeks.
I thought I had some ideas on what could be causing this (trojan, open relay, virus, etc.), but have mostly eliminated those. Could it be simply that multiple spammers are using my client's domain for return addresses on spam? If so, why are they using this particular domain? What makes this domain special?
