Tuesday, March 15, 2005 Podcasting Possibilities! We now have the capability to host our own Podcast. If you haven't already heard, a Podcast is a way for the average Joe to create his own syndicated audio program. Podcasts are usually designed to be played on an iPod or similar mp3 player, but there is no reason that a Podcast can't be heard using any computer with an mp3 application installed. The beauty of podcasting is that listeners can subscribe to a podcast using a tool like NetNewsWire or iPodderX, and new podcasts are automatically downloaded during the night. The new podcasts can be configured to sync with an iPod (or other mp3 player) so that the listener can hear the podcast anytime, at their convenience. We don't have plans to create a podcast of our own; it's just fun to have the technology available and to know that we can do it if we want to. This web-based bookmarking tool lets you save and access your bookmarks from anywhere you can find an internet connected computer. But that's not the best part: Furl also tells you what others are bookmarking and how many people have found the bookmarks useful. When you create a Furl bookmark, you can add keywords and ratings that make your bookmarks even more useful to the Furl community. You will be surprised how many useful sites you will find by taking a glance at the "most popular" and "most recent" Furl bookmarks. Keep an eye on Furl. It may become the next Google or Yahoo! of search. Like the old days of Yahoo!, Furl is human driven, but it is different in that the community of Furl users select the best sites.
