If you are setting up an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express wireless network, here are a few tips to get you over some potential humps:
AirPort Express: Under "Base Station Options", if you want to disable some of the ethernet port settings but find that they are grayed-out, you need to turn on "Distribute IP Addresses", save your settings (and wait for the AirPort Express to restart), and then go back under "Base Station Options", uncheck the settings you want to turn off, then turn off "Distribute IP Addresses" and restart your AirPort Express again. Of course, if you were planning on having the AirPort distribute IP addresses, then you would not have seen this issue crop up.
Setting up a WDS: You need to make sure you set up both ends of the connection. The main base station needs to be aware of the remote base station, and vice-versa. By "aware", I mean to make sure the appropriate AirPort units are listed under the WDS tab for each node (each base station) of the WDS. If you are using MAC address filtering (why?), you need to add the remote station to the MAC address list on the main base station, and I assume you need to add the main base station to the MAC address list on the remote base station. Also, make sure all your AirPort stations are set to use the same wireless channel.
